The serendip down to earth and hands on pachamama experience starts on november 2015. The project itself started in the individual selves way back and it became a community of friends and allies working together towards the same goal. Our purpose as community is to support the transition process towards a society that will become ecologically and humanly resilient through the constant experimentation of the art living and undertaking together. This leads us to the more than obvious decision of creating a permaculture research farm in la Drome France, region of Rhone Alpes.
"L'oasis de Serendip"
We are working on 13 HA of land, roughly half forest and half prairies.
The idea is to set up a full permaculture design on the big scale, including:
*Water retention and infiltration systems.
*Multistrata agroforestry systems interconnected with managed grazing.
*The Food Forests.
*Annual and perennial gardens for food and medicine security.
*Climate change mitigation crops and practices.
*Soil biology research and development lab.
*We also offer permaculture and resiliency courses and workshops, including many different practices and disciplines.
The process of design has already started and keeps on evolving as you read. Also since we all know resiliency has a space and time factor, we dont just stick to the pencil, and we are already implementing lots of the design futures directly on the land.
Hundreds of fruit trees and support species have been planted; Terraces and swales have been developed (and more to come); The first gardens and the great mandala are being seeded and planted all the time; The big house is already being designed for restoration.
Also, we've created a permaculture design office "PermaLab" focusing on the développement of smal /medium/big scale implementation. Ready to go and ready to adapt ecosystems facing climate change. We focus also on the regeneration of degraded landscape by erosion, or poor farming practices.
Teaming up with mother nature is our greatest hope and our greatest joy.
So, there are tons of projects and people finding light in this oasis, we expect more to come.
